The Finance Ministry says public sector workers should not expect any huge salary increments from now till 2024.
The Technical Adviser for the Ministry, Dr Samuel Nii Noi Ashong, said government currently has no money to increase the salary of it workers.
He said this during a discussion on the 2021 budget which was organised by the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI).
He observed that the impact of the COVID-19 has forced the government into tightening its belts.
Caretaker Finance Minister, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu,
“If you look at the Budget, Covid-19 is not expected to abate until the end of 2023 and we’re all looking to be tightening our belts for a while and people should not be expecting huge wage increases in the course of the next few years. This is because we don’t have money to pay for it,” he said, as quoted by Myjoyonline.com
