Heavy Police Present After GIJ authorities locks out students over planned demonstration.

The Ghana Institute of journalism has deny students from accessing both the Osu-Ringway campus and the new one at Dzorwulu.

On Tuesday Mach 23, 2021, the management of GIJ issued a communiqué directing all students “who paid their fees after the registration deadline to defer their programme.”

According to management, the decision was made “at its meeting a day into their revision week in preparation for their first semester exams.

Some observers believe the decision was made because some students planned to demonstrate on 24th March,2021 which is today. Even tho the reason for the decision is not know but most believe is as a result of the demonstration.

The management have decided not to comment. Lectures are on campus doing their usual activities, if not lecturing.

A member of the Interim Committee of the Students’ Representative Council, Theodore Mawutor Abiwu and other students bodies have spoken and express their disappointment and discomfort.

There is heavy present of police military in the school and when they were asked why they came they said “Order from Above”.
